Ministry Report – March 2016

God is doing amazing things in the special needs ministry in Brovary. We see His hand in all of it! We have had new moms join the Friday night Bible study. This year they are continuing to study women of the Bible. Recent studies include the study of Naaman’s servant girl, Job’s wife, Esther, and the Proverbs 31 woman. For most of the women, this was the first time to even hear of these. It is so exciting to see God’s Word revealed to them. Their enthusiasm and hunger for scripture are contagious!

A little over a year ago Jamie and I (Mary) had begun attending another Bible study that met on Saturday evenings at the Baptist church in Brovary. That study was started by Tanya, the lady who organizes and leads the special needs ministry. Its purpose is to give more moms the opportunity to participate in a study since not everyone could come on Friday evenings. In addition to the study, we (Jamie and Mary) were meeting an hour beforehand in order to disciple new believers.

This fall brought a brand new opportunity for ministry. Funds made available through donations have made it possible to hire a speech therapist to come to the church on Saturday afternoons. The therapist is available to help and work with small groups of children for one-hour sessions. There has been a great response to this new outreach. While parents wait for their children, Tanya has had a captive audience with the parents. She has used this opportunity wisely! They are reading through as a group, the book Unstoppable, written by Nicky Vujicic. Nicky is a Christian writer and motivational speaker. He was born without arms or legs. This time on Saturdays has been so valuable to the kingdom as it has opened a door to reach many families with the Gospel!
